DynaMingle wins the Battle in the Valley!

On November 11, 2006, six Deaf men's basketball teams from all over California met for a shootout in Bakersfield. This invitational was hosted by Jeff Jackson of Bakersfield College ASL Department. This invitational was somewhat different from most FAAD/WDB invitationals, and some of the teams had a few hearing players.

Two teams from the Bay Area came all the way down to meet the other 4 teams from Los Angeles and Bakersfield area. The teams from Los Angeles were the DynaMingle "A" and "B" teams. After rounds of back-and-fro dribbling and shooting hoops, DynaMingle "A," coached by the legendary Jimmy Newsome, narrowly beat the Bay Area team 55-51 in the champ game and came out victorious, again, even without any of the famed Valencia brothers to help! DynaMingle "B," coached by Dr. Jordan Eickman, however, had a more challenging day with the cold bug and ended up in sixth place.

Let's shake some more handwaves for our famous basketball players! More invitationals will come up throughout winter so check back here on this blog for the next one! Anyone interested in joining our popular basketball program may e-mail contact@dynamingle.org.
(Editor's note: Many apologies for not announcing this November 11 event in advance; very limited information was available at that time.)

CONGRATS TO DYNAMINGLE GRIZZLY BEARS!

We are pleased to announce that our own DynaMingle's Women's 4x4 Flag Football Team, the "Grizzly Bears" won 4th place (3-2) at the 2006 National Tournament held by the U.S. Flag Football of the Deaf in Clinton, Maryland on November 12th. 11 women's 4x4 teams entered the tournament, so a 4th-place finishing for a first-timer team is definitely an incredible feat, losing out only to more experienced teams like Ladies and Xtremes. The Grizzly Bears beat out Hurricanes, BB2 and Steel City.

Next year's tournament will be on our side of the country, in Fremont, California, on November 2-4, 2007. We will hopefully avenge our losses there to take the #1 position in women's flag football! We are also planning to set up a men's flag football team, so if you are interested, please e-mail dynaminglesports@yahoo.com.

Please give a warm congratulations to our first-timers and fourth-place team players Sandra De Dios, Carmen Consunji, Jennifer Hollins, Lynn Moran, and Crystal Eusebio, as well as our coach Marcos Aguilar and assistant coach Jin Pae. **Handwaves**
